Nate and his family have called the Valley home since 2003, and he has been building pools since 2004. Anthem was still filling in back then, and he has worked backyards here through most of its growth, from the early Del Webb streets to the newest homes off Gavilan Peak Parkway. Twenty years on, he runs it the same way: build it properly, price it honestly, answer your own phone.

Custom Pool Design Services
Every Saturn pool begins as a conversation about your yard rather than a page from a catalogue. We work out how you want to live in the space, which corner holds its shade, how the patio meets the house, and what the budget will carry. In Anthem there is an extra step before anything gets submitted, because the Community Council reviews design documents ahead of plan review. We prepare that package first so the two approvals run in order instead of colliding.

02 / Construction
New Pool Construction
We build concrete, in-ground pools, the most durable shell available in desert ground. A poured shell copes with ground movement and heat swings in a way a prefabricated one cannot, and it leaves you free on shape, depth and size. Most builds run 8 to 12 weeks depending on scope, permits, inspections and weather. Where your permit goes depends on your address. Homes west of Interstate 17 are served by the City of Phoenix, while everything on the east side falls under Maricopa County. We file with whichever applies to you.

03 / Spas
New Spa Construction
A spa can be lifted into the pool as a spillover feature or built on its own as a standalone retreat. Either route, it is drawn and poured within the same project, so tile, finish and decking read as one piece rather than an afterthought bolted on a year later. Spas earn their place in Anthem more than almost anywhere we build. At nearly 1,900 feet the evenings cool off hard, and a properly sized spa is what keeps the patio in use through the winter months.

This is where a pool stops being a rectangle of water. Water features, fire, lighting, shade and the surrounding deck all change how often the yard gets used. Saturn Pools is family owned, and Anthem has been on our map since we started in 2004. Very little about how we operate has changed. The owner is on every job, a single call reaches design and sales together, and no question needs relaying through a department to get answered.
A pool is a serious long term investment and an Anthem build gets treated that way. We stay alongside you from the opening design conversation through to the final walkthrough, and we remain easy to reach long after the water goes in. The best part of your pool is the part you will never see.
Steel, plumbing and gunite go underground the day after they are inspected. Nobody photographs that stage. It is also the part that decides whether your pool still looks right a decade from now. Anthem sits higher and rockier than most of the Valley, on ground that runs off Daisy Mountain and Gavilan Peak, and several neighborhoods back onto desert washes that constrain where anything can be dug. All of that has to be understood before excavation, not during it. Shortcuts taken below grade always surface later.

FAQ for Anthem Residents
These are the questions Anthem customers ask us most, covering cost, approvals, timelines and upkeep. Because Anthem is unincorporated and split by the freeway, the permitting answers here differ from anywhere else we build.
How much does a concrete swimming pool cost in Anthem?
Price comes down to interior and decking materials, the equipment package, and features such as waterfalls, lighting and firepits. Size and specification move the number as much as anything. Anthem adds two of its own factors. The ground is rockier than the Valley floor, which can lengthen an excavation, and heating tends to be specified higher here because the season is genuinely cooler. Neither is a reason to avoid building. Both are reasons to price the job properly at the start.
A real figure needs a real look at the property. We measure the yard, test the access, check the fall of the ground and talk through your wish list, then come back with pricing built around your lot instead of an average.
How long will my new pool take to build in Anthem?
Pool projects typically take 8 to 12 weeks once construction begins. Scheduling, scope, permits, inspections, material availability and weather all move that. Anthem carries an extra step ahead of it, since the Community Council reviews design documents before anything is submitted for plan review. That sequence is not optional, so we start the Council package early and file the permit as soon as it clears rather than running the two one after the other from a standing start.
Who issues the pool permit in Anthem?
It depends which side of Interstate 17 you live on, and this catches out builders who do not work here often. Anthem is an unincorporated community rather than a city, so there is no Anthem building department. Homes west of the freeway, in Parkside, are served by the City of Phoenix and permit through them. Everything on the east side, covering Country Club and The Village, falls under Maricopa County. The two have different submittal requirements and different inspection scheduling. We confirm your side before drawing anything.
Does the Community Council have to approve my design?
Yes, and it comes before the permit rather than after. The Anthem Community Council operates a design review process, and documents go to the Council ahead of submittal to the City of Phoenix or Maricopa County for plan review. On top of that, your neighborhood association adds its own requirements, and Parkside, Country Club and The Village do not all ask for the same things. Submittals typically cover pool placement, decking, equipment screening, wall heights and exterior colors. We prepare the package and manage both stages.
My lot backs onto a wash. Does that affect the pool?
It can, and it is worth checking before you commit to a layout. A number of Anthem lots back onto or sit near desert washes, which carry real water during monsoon storms and are regulated rather than simply landscape. Building into or too near one is not straightforward, and drainage across the lot has to keep working afterward. We identify anything of that kind during design and place the pool, the deck and the equipment where they will not create a problem the first time a storm comes through.
How long is the swim season up here?
Shorter than down in the Valley, and it surprises people who moved up from Phoenix. Anthem sits at roughly 1,900 feet, high enough that nights cool off noticeably sooner in autumn and stay cooler later into spring. An unheated pool here has a meaningfully shorter comfortable season than the same pool twenty five miles south. That is why we push people toward properly sized heating and a spa rather than an undersized heater bolted on later. Get it right at the design stage and you gain months of use every year.
