Learn About Different Pool Shapes
Aug 1
Pools once came in standard rectangular shapes. However, various shapes are available to suit your yard, patio, and landscape.
Please keep reading to learn about different pool shapes.
Roman swimming pool
This timeless pool shape offers a minimalist look with elegance and resembles the architectural style of ancient Rome. The pool is framed with two parallel lines and half circles on each end.
Free-form pool
The free-form pool doesn’t belong to any particular shape or exist in any categories. It usually has round edges and curved areas.
Kidney-shaped pools belong to the free-form family. They are rounded on both ends, with curves only on one side, resembling a kidney. They are good options for smaller outdoor spaces.
Geometric pool
Geometric pools are a safe and practical choice to complete your outdoor space. Perfect for a modern look, they come in specific shapes:
- Rectangular shape: This pool will provide the most open and expansive swimming space. It is suitable for lap swimming as well. If the reason for installing a pool in the yard is to stay fit, a rectangular-shaped pool is the number one choice. With their sharp edges, they fit well into the overall classic look of any landscape.
- Circular shape: The model is optimal for water flow and filtration. The base of the pool isn’t round but flat. There are two options for round pools: inground or above-ground. Note that they require a larger outdoor space to install.
- Oval shape: The third pool is less expensive and suitable for swimming laps. Due to their form, they take up a lot of outdoor space but are an excellent option for an inground pool look.
Grecian pool
Aesthetically appealing, the Grecian pool is a timeless choice for large families. This rectangular pool has cut edges and looks good in almost any landscape.
Figure 8 pool
Figure 8 pools are an excellent choice to separate the deep areas. For example, the children can enjoy themselves at the shallow end while the adults can swim in the deeper water. Figure 8 is in the shape of an hourglass.
Lazy L pool
This shape is attractive, with more curves and less defined lines. It is suitable for separating shallow and deep areas, and the L shape makes it easier to cover up the steps.
Choosing the right fit
One must consider many factors before selecting a pool shape that fits the outdoor area perfectly. Always account for the location and size of the yard, as well as the style of the landscape. Consult a professional pool installation firm for the best advice.
