Refresh Your Pool Safety Practices With the Experts

As more and more people invest in beautiful backyard swimming pools, it’s becoming increasingly important to stay vigilant about pool safety practices. Swimming pools are an amazing addition to any home, but when we’re careless about safety we put ourselves at risk. With this in mind, Pool Safely, a campaign of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, has created a new video series to help families prevent avoidable accidents. Let’s take a closer look at these pool safety refreshers.

The “Ask the Experts” video series is a collaboration between Pool Safely and their community of drowning-prevention experts and advocates. So far, the series has featured contributors like Nicole Phelps of the Michael Phelps Foundation, Bridget McKinney of the American Red Cross, Tina Dessart of the USA Swimming Foundation, and more. Each video includes a short tip from an expert about how you and your family can Pool Safely this summer. Here’s one example from three-time Olympic gold medalist Rowdy Gaines.

The Pool Safely Pledge, which we’ve talked about before, includes essential pool safety practices such as:

  • Always watching children in and near the water

  • Making sure kids learn how to swim

  • Ensure pools have 4-sided fencing and anti-entrapment drain covers

When you practice safety principles like these, you can enjoy your pool all the more. And if you or someone you know would like to build a new pool to enjoy, don’t forget that we’re still open! We’d love to talk to you about your new pool construction project and help your dreams come to life. Schedule a free estimate by reaching out to us here!
