Did you know that most people spend more time beside their pool than in it? If you find yourself in that category, it may be important to re-think the attention you are giving to your outdoor spaces. Even if you have put a lot of effort into crafting your backyard spot, there are still a few ways you can break up the monotony. Here are five ways you can spice up your lounging area.

Add a Firepit

In most of Arizona, there’s generally only a couple of months where you can’t utilize your outdoor spaces to their fullest potential. But why not use it year round? Turn the heat up by adding a fire pit or fireplace to your design. We specialize in extending your pool into a backyard oasis by adding barbeques, fire pits, and fireplaces. Here’s a backyard we designed in Cave Creek.

Add a Water Feature

Water features are another way to add interest to your backyard. The sounds of water circulating are soothing, and it’s good for your pool chemistry as well.

String up Some Lights

You’ve almost certainly seen this one before with its growing popularity, and there’s good reason for it. As long as you have two structures to hang the lights between, like a patio cover and a couple of poles, it’s extremely easy to light up your backyard. You can also add lights to your pool and spa and change your backyard with different lights. We use red and green at Christmas and blue and red in July. We have a lot of lighting options so make to ask us during your initial sales consultation.

Create an Outdoor Movie Space

This idea is surprisingly easy to implement and exactly as much fun as it sounds. If you have a nice grassy area outside or a large patio, it doesn’t take much to transform it into a fun movie theater for the whole family. You can pick up a small projector for relatively cheap, and you can save even more money by building your own stand for the screen or affixing it to an existing structure. After a little bit of work, you may have a new weekly activity!

Refresh Old Furniture

Do you have some outdoor furniture that needs new life? A little spray paint goes a long way. Cover up any rust or wear by adding a new coat of paint and bringing in a pop of color. This is by far one of the cheapest things you can do to change up your surroundings. And with a few sewing skills, you can add new cushions to your chairs by creating a slipcase for any old or worn pillows that you have lying around as well.

Whatever you decide to do, you will learn that it is really easy to update your outdoor space without much effort or money. And no matter what route you take, you are sure to find yourself wanting to go outside again and inviting friends over to see your newest improvement.
