It’s no secret that we are fans of PebbleTec pool finishes—and many of our customers are too. They’re innovative, long-lasting, and really beautiful. But, as with any other pool finish, performing regular maintenance is key to keeping your pool looking its best and preserving your finish for as long as possible. With that in mind, here are the main things you need to do to maintain your PebbleTec pool finish’s pristine appearance.

Brush Regularly

Coincidentally, this piece of advice applies to your pool and your teeth—you need a regular brushing routine. Thankfully, your pool isn’t as high maintenance as your mouth. Instead of twice a day, just once a week should manage to prevent dirt, algae, or anything else from harming your PebbleTec finish. It sounds simple, but this is one of the most overlooked parts of pool maintenance, and it makes a huge difference.

Remove Debris Regularly

If the last tip is like brushing your teeth, then this one might the pool equivalent of flossing. At least as often as your brush your pool, clean away any debris hanging out on the top of your pool water. Not only can floating debris alter your pool’s water chemistry, but when pooled in one area, it can stain your pool’s finish as well. Often, your skimmer will do a good job in clearing much of the stuff floating on your pool’s surface, but it’s important to catch any spots it misses.

Balance Your Water Chemistry

This probably isn’t news to you, but balancing your water chemistry frequently is a must for pool upkeep. As with any pool finish, balanced water protects your PebbleTec from buildup, discoloration, or other damage. Proper water chemistry also maintains the integrity of your finish, stopping pebbles from loosening or falling out due to weakened concrete caused by unbalanced water. And of course, balanced water is necessary for more than your pool finish. Balanced water makes your pool safe to enjoy without irritation that can occur from water that is too basic or acidic. Two birds, one stone!

As you can see, these tips are basically universal pool care steps. What that means is that caring for a PebbleTec pool finish isn’t really any more difficult than caring for plaster. In fact, in a lot of ways, PebbleTec can be less of a hassle than other finishes, but if you’re going invest in something this stunning, then you want to make sure it stays that way.
